"As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another."
1 Peter 4:10
Do you know the difference between godly contentment and ungodly complacency? We find godly contentment through our identity in Christ, but we must never become complacent with regard to our intimacy with Christ (1 Tim. 6:8; Phil. 3:13-14).
Jesus will not allow us to become spiritually complacent if we continue to follow and obey Him. Peter and his friends would find this out as Jesus was about to call them to a new level of commitment as His disciples.
In our text, Jesus commanded Simon Peter, the fisherman, to launch into the deep and let down his nets for a catch.
Jesus is calling each of us to lives of obedience to Him. Sometimes obedience requires a simple act of service, and sometimes obedience requires a big step of faith. Are you willing to take on one of those today?
